Our new ‘Covid-19 secure’ approach
We have always prided ourselves in ensuring that Squirrel Apartment is cleaned to the highest standard. However, the impact of COVID-19 will mean that it will now undergo a full deep clean and disinfection using commercial grade disinfectants, between guests.
We have also introduced a mandatory 78 hour break between guests, to further minimise any infection risk, both to ourselves as the cleaners and future guests. We will take extra care of high-touch surface areas such as door handles, light switches, kettles and toasters. We have always provided cleaning products in the Apartment and, during a stay, guests will be welcome to use these freely. A cleaning checklist will be used and left for guests’ perusal.
We have developed new safe working practices and undertaken a fresh Risk Assessment, following the latest advice from The Scottish Government and trade bodies.
Differences for Guests
We love to welcome our guests personally, but we have introduced a contact-free experience. Guests are welcome to arrive any-time from 4pm on the arrival day, while departure is by 10am on the final day. Keys will be in the keysafe outside the Apartment and we will provide the code prior to your stay. Of course, the keysafe and keys will be disinfected.
Inside the Apartment, we will be keeping to our usual high standards of presentation. All kitchenware and crockery will be clean but not sanitised so we will be recommending that guests rewash items in hot, soapy water before use. Given the various challenges of local supply chains, unfortunately we may not always be able to provide as much lavatory paper as we would usually like. We usually provide bread and a pint of milk, but have paused that for now. We also normally provide a good stock of tea, coffee and sugar, this will be limited to a small supply of single packaged items
We will keep our library of books, board games and local information leaflets. As we won’t be able to sanitise each individual item during a changeover, we’ll place them in bookcases and cupboards and ask guests to wash their hands thoroughly after use. Important information about the Apartment will be presented in wipeable plastic folders. You will also receive a personalised Covid Specific information document.
If, during a stay, there is an exceptional reason why a member of staff or trusted contractor may need to visit the Apartment (for example to rectify an issue in the building), we will inform guests with as much notice as possible and adhere to all Government physical distancing rules.
We will be asking guests to abide by the latest Government recommendations, including guidance regarding who can travel and who can stay overnight together, along with the physical distancing advice. If, during a stay, any person starts to show symptoms of Coronavirus or is advised to self-isolate, we will be asking guests to let us know as soon as possible and appropriate measures will be taken.
